IMPORTANT NOTE: The absolute last date for receiving payments (or a Purchase order from your institution) for registration and accommodation is 31 July 2026. The accommodation bookings will be finalised with SANPARKS after that date and once we have released chalets not booked and paid for, there is no guarantee that accommodation in the chalets in Skukuza can be booked again.

GRANTS FOR STUDENTS AND YOUNG SCIENTISTS

Applications for support for Indaba 10 is now open after funds have been made available by the IUCr and ECA. In order to give this benefit to as many young scientists as possible, the grants will not be big enough to cover all expenses, but will only be a contribution towards the costs. The IUCr makes these funds available especially to support young scientists from institutions who cannot fund their participation in the conference.

NOTE:  To potentially qualify for funding, you (i) must be registered for Indaba10 and (ii) must have submitted an Abstract.

Conditions

Only PhD students, post-docs and young scientists (not in a permanent position) may apply. For post-docs and young scientists, you must have received your PhD not more than 5 years ago. MSc students may also apply, but funding will depend on the number of applicantions received.

Please note the important stipulation from the IUCr: “The IUCr sponsors young scientists to attend Indaba 10 solely and potentially for travel and subsistence and not as a waiver for the registration fee, for poster prizes, etc.”

No funds will be transferred to individuals, but the grant amount will be deducted from the invoice.

Applications should be received by the end of business on Friday 31 July and should be supported by a letter from the supervisor or HOD. Confirmation of grants will be given by 7 August 2026.

The registration fees for delegates, Young Scientists and students include access to the conference sessions and material, refreshments, breakfasts (Monday to Friday), lunch (Monday to Thursday), welcoming function (Sunday), poster session cocktail (Monday) and a bush braai (Thursday). Dinner on Tuesday and Wednesday will be for the delegates' own account. The registration fees for accompanying persons and children include all the above except attendance of the session and conference materials.

*Support for qualifying students may be available in the near future and a call to this effect will be issued on this website as soon as more details from sponsors become available.

The conference transport includes transfers from the selected airports to Skukuza on 11 October, return transfers from Skukuza on 16 October, as well as access to the vehicles for game viewing for the duration of the conference at the scheduled times on the programme: early morning and afternoon. This transport is ONLY available to delegates who have booked the transport. If you travel to Skukuza using private transport, you will have to use this for game viewing purposes. Please note that the conference transport should not be confused with the open game-viewing vehicles used by private tour operators or the Kruger Park. These can be booked and paid for separately.

Cancellation before or on 31 July 2026: 50% refund
Cancellation after 31 July 2026: no refund and unpaid invoice will be payable.
